SEND Support & EHCP Preparation Tool

Helping parents and carers prepare for SEND conversations, school meetings, healthcare appointments and EHCP discussions.

This tool is for information, preparation and signposting only. It does not diagnose SEND, ADHD, autism or any medical condition. It does not provide legal advice and does not determine EHCP eligibility. EHCP decisions are made by the local authority, not MediCheckMe.

SEND

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities โ€” when a child or young person has a learning difficulty or disability that means they need extra support at school or college.

SEN Support

Extra help a school provides for a child with SEND, without needing a formal EHCP.

SENCO

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator โ€” the staff member at school responsible for organising SEND support.

EHCP

Education, Health and Care Plan โ€” a legal document for children with more complex needs, describing the support they should receive.
